A
native of Spain, Lucas Aleman was selected as concertmaster of the
Real Filharmonica de Galicia at the age of 22, making him one of the
youngest concertmasters in Spain’s history. He has won prizes
in the 1996 Soria National Violin Competition and the 1995 Regino
Sainz de la Maza competition. In 1998, he had obtained his Docent
Musicus (bachelor of Music) from the Hogeschool van Kunsten Utrecht,
the Netherlands with honors where his teachers and mentors have included
Viktor Libermann, Thomas Zehetmair, and Keiko Wataya. Soloing extensively,
he has performed with such orchestras as Castillo y Leon Symphony,
Real Filharmonica de Galicia, Las Palmas Symphony Orchestra and the
Dayton Philharmonic to name a few with such celebrated conductors
like Maestros Sir Maxwell Davies, Leopold Hager and Neal Gittelman.
He has performed chamber music concerts on numerous occasions throughout
Europe including Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland to critical
acclaim both live on broadcast and in renowned halls.In his tenure
as concertmaster in Spain, he taught at a selective conservatory in
Galicia and was sought after as a teacher. In 2002, he was appointed
to the Concermaster position of the Dayton Philharmonic and Violin
Professor at the University of Dayton and maintains a private studio
for advanced pre-college students.
